Valley council no help

Spokane Valley neighbors gathered at a recent City Council meeting to air concerns about a large housing development near us in the North Keller Road, North Mayhew Road and Sanson Road area. We were received with mild disinterest by the council (a couple of members did exhibit interest, and we appreciate them).

Our city attorney insisted the City Council meeting was not the correct venue for our concerns about a large housing project in a mostly rural area, but could not direct us to the appropriate person or office that could help us regarding poor notification of construction projects and zoning problems.

I believe one of the City Council’s obligations is to hear concerns from the public and direct them accurately to or assign someone to assist them in the areas they need help with. We did not receive sufficient direction.
