School trustee filing deadlines Friday

Don’t look now, but the candidacy filing deadlines for a number of districts, including school boards, is 5 p.m. Friday. The battle for seats in the Coeur d’Alene School District has been intense in the past, as Hard Right advocates have tried to regain the foothold they once had. It’ll be interesting to see whether local Republicans support a ticket of candidates as they have in the past. Trustee Christa Hazel has already said she won’t seek re-election. That leaves incumbents Dave Eubanks and Tom Hearn to run again, if they so choose, and an open seat. Here is County Clerk Jim Brannon’s announcement of the filing deadline:

Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon reminds people interested in appearing on the ballot for taxing district leadership roles in the May 16 election that the deadline is 5PM March 17. “Trustee, Board member or Commissioner seats are open at numerous districts,” said Brannon. “Seats can be for 2, 4 or 6 year terms”, he continued.
