Senate convenes, goes at ease for Transportation Committee meeting

The Senate has convened, then gone at ease for a meeting of the Senate Transportation Committee, which has HB 334, the sidewalks bill that passed the House late yesterday, regarding authorization for spending funds from the surplus eliminator on sidewalk projects if needed.

Still on the Senate’s calendar is concurrence – or not – in the House’s amendments to SB 1195, the unemployment insurance rate tax cut bill, onto which the House tacked a $28 million income tax cut.

Senate Majority Leader Bart Davis’s opening message to the Senate this morning: “Senators, let’s go home.” But first, he said, there’s some business to do.

The House still has one bill on its calendar, HB 328, the budget bill for the state Department of Administration. That bill still needs to pass both houses.
