Christa: KCRCC has gone off rails

On Friday, Christa Hazel, a Coeur d’Alene trustee and Republican precinct committeewoman, criticized the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee for opposing the Riverstone Citylink Transfer Center. She said the committee has been taken over by Redoubters, Constitutionalists and preppers. Later, she followed up on her criticism:

I am a Republican but I want the local record to reflect clearly: In no way whatsoever do I support this ridiculous notion of Redoubt where the goal is to support secession in creating another state out of Eastern Washington, Idaho, Western Montana, and part of Wyoming so those escaping ‘urban crime and socialism’ have a place to retreat to. Fine if you agree with a Redoubt, as is your right to be paranoid and crazy, but I won’t support it, as is my right in this wonderful C ountry. I am happy to volunteer my time to things that positively benefit our community because I truly love CdA. I’m sad to see my local party’s committee hijacked by people who are in actuality Constitutionalists and doomsday preppers. While this bold statement, for which I will take heat, originates from a transit center resolution, I give you my word: the lack of compassion extended to my fellow residents flies in the face of my integrity, deeply held spiritual beliefs, and also my party affiliation. I’m standing up. Let the chips fall where they may.
