CSD outlines supt search process

From Victoria Michael, of the Coeur d’Alene School District:

The Coeur d’Alene School Board of Trustees today announced the details of their search for a new district superintendent. The search plan includes a three-step process that names the Acting Superintendent through June 30; identifies a target date to recruit an Interim Superintendent for the 2017-18 school year; and kicks off a nationwide search for a new Superintendent later this fall.

Dr. Trina Caudle, Director of Secondary Education, has been named Acting Superintendent until June 30, when an Interim Superintendent is hired. Caudle steps in for Matt Handelman, who resigned last week to take a position with Evergreen Public Schools. Members of the board expressed gratitude for Caudle’s “service and dedication to our district during this transition.”

Later this week the district will begin accepting applications for an Interim Superintendent with hopes to have the position filled by June 30. The Interim would be hired on a one-year contract that will stipulate that the Interim Superintendent cannot apply for the position of Superintendent.

This fall a nationwide search for a permanent replacement will commence, with the expectation that the new superintendent will assume leadership of the Coeur d’Alene School District on or about July 1, 2018. To help the board with this process, the district will soon make a request for bids for an educational leadership search consultant.

Trustees will be seeking community input on the selection of a new Superintendent at a later date, and more details about the search process will be made available as it continues.
