Inmate at the Max assaults, injures 3 officers and another inmate
An inmate at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution attacked and injured another inmate and three correctional officers today with a padlock wrapped in a T-shirt, the Idaho Department of Correction reports. The assault occurred in a recreation area at Max around 9:30 a.m.; the officers were trying to stop the inmate-on-inmate assault when they were injured.
Two officers and the inmate who was assaulted suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital by ambulance, the department said; the third officer, whose injuries were less serious, was taken to the hospital in a state vehicle. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
The attacker was identified as Clark Jackson Cleveland, 32, who is serving life without parole for convictions in Twin Falls County including first-degree murder, aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping. He also was convicted of aggravated battery in 2016 for assaulting another inmate at the Idaho State Correctional Institution, a medium-security state prison.
