Transit Center moves ahead
A late attempt by Chairman Brent Regan and the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee to derail a long-planned Riverstone Citylink Transit Center appears to be failing. In a telephone conversation, Commissioner Chris Fillios tells Huckleberries that he has no plans to re-visit the approval the county gave in January to request a federal grant to build the center. Nor does Fillios see any action by the other commissioners to bring the matter back for re-consideration. The transit center is also supported by three mayors, Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White and Sheriff Ben Wolfinger. Fillios and Commissioner Bob Bingham supported the grant application. Commissioner Marc Eberlein opposed it. At this point, commissioners still need to deliberate on the number of days Citylink will operate (5X, 6X or 7X per week) — and whether or not to charge customers.
