McDonalds donates $10K for memorial

The planned memorial to honor Coeur d’Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore and other fallen officers at McEuen Park received a boost of $10,027.27 more from the local McDonalds restaurants as a result of a May 5 fundraiser. Shown in the photo in front of the future site of the memorial are (from left): executive director Tracy Meyers of the Panhandle Parks Foundation, retired police Sgt Christie Wood and owner Mark Ray Jr. of the Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls McDonalds restaurants. Executive Director Tracy Meyers of the Panhandle Parks Foundation tells Huckleberries that fund-raising for Phase 1 of the Greg Moore Memorial has reached $270,000 of the $300,000 needed. And she will be looking for in-kind donations to help meet the remainder of the project cost. She expects a ceremonial ground-breaking to occur by month’s end or early June. She expects the project to begin at the end of summer and to be completed this year. The first phase will include 3 waterfalls a water basin and 8 benches for contemplative purposes.
