Letter: Transgender fender bender
In a letter to the Coeur d’Alene Press, Shirley Thagard of Hayden writes:
On Sunday, May 14, Mr Bob Ridout discussed “Transgender” Bathrooms. Just a short update. Since the beginning of time, public transportation such as tour buses, trains, planes have had non-gender specific bathrooms. Many restaurants, for as long as I remember (50 years or so), have non-gender bathrooms. In the 60 or so countries I have visited, the majority of public restrooms are not gender specific. The only negative I can think of going into a stall in a non-gender specific bathroom, closing the door, only to find someone was too lazy or inconsiderate to lift the toilet seat.
