Boy’s apology refreshing
Regarding the May 19 article about the Oregon fourth-grader who stole a hazelnut and pen from the Capitol Building.
Thank you, thank you to the person(s) requiring or encouraging the boy to write the letter acknowledging the theft, enclosing financial restitution and asking for forgiveness. What a breath of fresh air!
It has been and continues to be so frustrating for me when parents, officials, employers, co-workers, etc. do not hold children and adults accountable for their actions or lack of actions and words.
In some situations I have encountered and continue to encounter, the problems will not be resolved unless drastic measures are taken.
It is my fervent hope that this young boy will continue to grow and mature to adulthood in a loving, caring, positive way because someone cared enough to ask for a tough response from him for a mistake he made.
