Union dues mischaracterized

In response to Wendell E. Smith’s letter (“Union ad misleading”, May 20), it is apparent that he is the one misled into thinking that union dues are used for political advertisement. As a proud member of SEIU 1199NW, our union dues are not used for political purposes. If a member wishes to contribute to a fund that the union can use for actions, advertisements and money to support elected officials that fight for union workers, the member can voluntarily have money taken out of their paycheck to finance these actions.

Yes, Trump won the electoral vote, and no, I will not get over it. I will continue to fight for clean air to breathe and water to drink. I will continue to fight for actions to mitigate climate change, and support science. I will continue to fight for affordable health care for everyone. I will continue to fight against discrimination and injustice.

Yes, go Cathy! It’s about time to get rid of her and elect someone who is willing to work and fight for her constituents, not for corporations or the wealthy. We need a fearless leader who is willing to hold town hall meetings, not one that hides. Yes, go Cathy.
