Vote for Pullman’s Future

Pullman’s Proposition 1, the general bond that will fund acquisition of Encounter Ministries campus, will provide much-needed facilities for Pullman residents, more than doubling the usable space of City Hall (constructed a half-century ago, when Pullman’s population was 60 percent of what it is today) and the old Pioneer Center.

Proposition 1 provides space for City Hall and a true Community Center, to meet the needs of Pullman’s youth, families and seniors. We need a new senior citizens center, which currently operates in cramped quarters with limited parking, often precluding participation by many seniors in their twice-weekly Council on Aging lunches and other functions. (Personally, I think it’s a disgrace that our seniors are forced to drive to the Palouse Mall in Moscow just to walk for exercise from November through May, because it’s the only large indoor space where they can find relatively easy parking and access.)

The new facility offers a walking track around the perimeter of the expansive gymnasium, and Parks and Rec will finally have ample room for educational and fitness programs plus covered storage for equipment and vehicles now scattered inefficiently all over town.

Please say yes Pullman’s future and approve Prop 1.
