Gut feeling about Avista

On your Nov. 12 front page, news of the possible sale of Avista to Hydro One is long and glowing. From the positive comments of Avista CEO Scott Morris, to the energy and successes of Mayo Schmidt, Hydro One’s CEO, it all paints a picture of a win-win for both companies, their shareholders and, hopefully, us the customers.

Going by what I read so far, it all looks like a natural “consolidation transition” and everything’s rosy.

Since my sister has resided in Toronto for the past 50 years and we often talk on the phone, I told her about their Hydro One working to buy our Avista Utilities. This is all she had to say: “Oh God, I’m sorry, prepare to be hosed!”

They say blood is thicker than water, so you can guess my gut feeling.
