Thankful for letter

Thank you to Halina Slobodow for her poignant and moving letter of Nov. 12. We all need to be reminded of being thankful every day, and her letter really hit the mark. It’s the little things that get in our way — petty grievances, annoying habits. When we step back and look at the bigger picture of our spouse or partner, most of these things don’t matter at all.

I am very sorry for the loss of your husband. While pondering your letter, my husband was out of town for several days and during that time I had the chance to imagine what life would be like without him at all. I have to say the time away really was an awakening to realize how awful that would be for me. We’ve been together 47 years and have come to overlook many little faults both ways, even laugh about them.

Thank you for your wonderful reminder to be thankful. Consider this letter a great big hug.
