New leadership 5th District

How sad that when repetitively given the opportunity to seriously study gun violence, once again Cathy McMorris Rodgers votes in lockstep with the NRA, one of her major donors. Sad, but no surprise. The NRA owns her, as they own so many other legislators on their payroll. This time it was a vote against creating a bipartisan committee to prevent gun violence. For those Second Amendment defenders, read: This committee was being formed to prevent gun violence in the wake of more mass murders, not to repeal the Second Amendment or take away guns. It’s just to study the problem. But the knowledge-fearing NRA says we can’t have any of that, can we?

In the wake of more mass shootings, including one right here in Freeman, McMorris Rodgers has nothing to offer but thoughts and prayers. After all, that works much better in the real world than careful study.

It’s time to move on to new leadership in the 5th District. Please join me in voting for Lisa Brown in 2018. She has a strong track record of reaching across the aisle to solve problems, but Lisa will be owned by no one. Her allegiance will be to her constituents alone.
