Trickle-down economics

Here’s a question for all voters. Just how much lipstick does Congress think they can put on a pig? They’ve tried for over eight years now to “repeal and replace” Obamacare. They couldn’t even do that when they are in the majority of both houses.

Now they are trying to sneak in a partial repeal in a tax bill. What seems to be even more counter-intuitive is they are trying to do it under the guise of “reducing taxes.” The tax bill as written will add $1.5 trillion to the debt over 10 years. Congress says that putting 13 million people off health insurance will save $300 billion over the same period. While my math skills are limited that still leaves $1.2 trillion added to the debt burden for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with a reduction in services to the people that elected those same representatives.

Appears that all those “deficit hawks” hell bent on cutting programs to reduce the deficit have flown the coop. It would be wonderful if Congress worked for the majority of their constituents as hard as they work for special interests. But, then again I used to believe in “trickle-down economics.”
