It’s Giving Tuesday

Perhaps you got some screamin’ 5 a.m. Black Friday deals. Or perhaps you were one of the online shoppers expected to push Cyber Monday sales over the $6 billion mark.

Granted, it’s nice to get ahead on your Christmas shopping. Who doesn’t like to save a few dollars? And strong consumer spending is good for the economy. But once we catch our breath from the shopping frenzy and the latest electronic device fails to light us up, it can be a little empty.

Why not start a new tradition with a lasting feel-good? Today is Giving Tuesday, a national day to embrace giving back. Think Cyber Monday for charities. Charities depend on year-end giving as much as retailers depend on holiday shopping.

You can help local charities today to feed, clothe or provide shelter or services to a single mom and her daughter, or a homeless teenager.
