Cut taxes, cut progress

In the last few months, the nation has had major forest fires, massive hurricanes and horrendous flooding costing billions. Weeks are required to just clean up much less repair or replace homes, businesses and infrastructure. The entire island of Puerto Rico may not get electricity or running water for months. All this destruction will have a total price tag that is not yet known.

All these events have far-reaching effects. If you think our bridges and highways needed work before, just take a look at the video from Houston and Florida. Much of the money for infrastructure repairs will come from the federal and state tax-supported funds.

So once again we will have increased deficit spending and the national debt will continue to climb. So what do the geniuses in D.C. have on their agenda? They want to cut taxes. How will they pay for this if they reduce taxes?

It’s been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. It is past time to stop the insanity and get the 1 percent to pay their share.
