Divorcing the NFL
I know no, how most of your audience feels about the horrible controversy which now prevails in the NFL and America. After 70 years of my loving professional football, I am divorcing the NFL. It is with sadness and disappointment that some of the most overpaid athletes among professional sports have found a venue to disrupt and spoil this American icon.
If millionaire NFL football players would like to make a difference in what they perceive as inequality in a country which has afforded them so much opportunity, then I say go write large checks to organizations such as the NAACP, the National Urban League, Rainbow Push Coalition, or any of the other 10 or more organizations in the United States who serve to better race relations.
Often I see people acting as a herd and then comes the stampede. The swarm of followers, not realizing the malice that would ensue, ruined this senior’s love for the NFL and its game.
The performances for “The Star Spangled Banner” have never been misused by Americans until recently in both the U.S. and U.K.
I support cancellation of the remainder of the 2017 season because player protests will not abate.
