CMR ignoring us

I applaud the pious efforts of the Rev. Gen Heywood of the Veradale United Church of Christ in the Sept. 21 letter “Blood on altar again.” The Rev. Heywood courageously spelled out how “the moral fiber of our country is rotting from the acid of greed, fear and insecure egos. We fear our neighbor, strong women, transgender people, gay people, foreign people and simply, most people. We place our faith in guns, not God.”

Our representative in Congress (Cathy “Ignore Us” Rodgers) is not voting in the best interests of the vast majority of her constituents. Her voting record to date conveys 0 percent support for any kind of gun control, 0 percent upport for consumer protections, 0 percent support for labor rights and wages, 4 percent support for environmental protections, 22 percent support for education, 92 percent support for taxing the middle class, 39 percent support for public health, 0 percent support for taxing the wealthy, and 18 percent support for women’s rights.

She also supported Paul Ryan’s budget containing sweeping cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

It appears she cares only about the deep pocketed 1 percent ankrolling her re-election and insuring the profits for corporations and their overpaid CEOs.
