Do not name shooters

To the staff at The Spokesman-Review: you proved your point of Sheriff Knezovich with the Sept. 14 article on the front page of the Northwest section entitled, “A look at past school shootings in Washington.”

He said the media should stop using the names of the people that commit these heinous acts, yet in this article with eight incidents, you named the guilty party. These people and individuals who want to imitate them are probably cheering to see their names in print once again.

Could you possibly instead list the incident and just say “the guilty person is now serving his sentence of (X) for his crimes”? This would still convey the gravity of the crime, but not glorify the person that committed these acts. Just a thought.
