Guns and politicians

Our congressional representative says gun control is complicated. Her party is not pointing to the sources of the problem, rather at this time to the mentally ill as how to address the problem.

A veteran myself, I know active duty military members as well as other veterans who have used a weapon in defense of our country. They are genuine – the real thing – and would not hesitate to leave their homes, leave the churches before the sermon ends, leave the tavern with the last beer unfinished, drop what they’re doing, get their weapons and make haste to the scene of the threat.

They’d do it in a moment’s notice, knowing where their weapons are – kept safe under lock and key until needed.

Internal threats to our safety at the hands of external villains is not what is happening. Fantasy is merely fantasy. Obsession with a fantasy that appears to summon wannabe heroes is the spin of political manipulation. It’s only “complicated” if an elected representative is beholding to a specific lobby whose loss of support could cost them their job. Would you fire an employee who not only failed to take action to protect your well-being, but lied about why?
