Celeste Shaw a bright light

These horrendous acts of violence and cruelty we have experienced the past few weeks are beyond my words to explain. It seems to me if they are in our state or another, we are all deeply affected. But it is always good to see a shining light. In the deepest depths of darkness light can shine through. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

We must all look for the light, and when we are told to be the light, we must rise and do so. I would say in our own sadness a light that shined was Celeste Shaw, owner of Chaps Diner and Bakery. She opened her establishment to all who needed refuge from the Freeman shooting, offering up not only food and beverage but a place to console and encourage one another.

We all benefit when someone touches our life in an unexpected way. It’s a blessing that makes us feel great. Kindness is a powerful reminder that behind all the negativity and malice, there lies goodness that has the power to change the world.

You are a person that inspires all, Celeste. I personally thank you for your act of kindness and for rising to the call you heard to be a light to many in our community.
