Time for action

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I vote for people and issues, not parties. The key word here being that I vote. I am distraught and angry by what happened in Las Vegas. It was senseless and I can no longer sit by and do nothing. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should ever own a high-powered assault weapon. Ever. Hunting rifle? Sure. Hand gun for personal protection? Okay. Anything beyond that, no. Just no.

To our Eastern Washington legislators: I implore you to make this your issue. Do not take another dime from the NRA or any other gun advocacy group. I will be looking up who you are taking money from and I encourage my fellow community members to do the same. If you take even one penny from a known gun lobbying group or advocate, you’ve lost my vote … and I’m guessing others.

“Thoughts and prayers,” are well, thoughtful. We are past the point of thoughtful. It’s time for action. Develop and support legislation that outlaws these guns. I am calling on you to help. Please make a difference on this very important social issue.
