Comforting the comfortable
Although all details have yet to be finalized, the Trump tax plan outlined in the S-R indicates that, for a family of four, those making up to $100,000 would pay more in taxes than under the present plan, those earning between $100,000 to $200,000 might save a bit more than $100, and those earning over $200,000 would pay considerably less (the burden on a taxpayer with $500,000 income would decrease $7,108!).
Further, to finance at least part of this plan, billions will have to be reduced from current expenditures, nearly all of which will be taken from domestic programs that in large measure assist those earning less than $100,000. Businesses, however, will do quite well given the proposed steep cut in corporate tax levels. Seems like the tax plan is directed toward increasing the incomes of the very wealthy and corporations.
Trump, no doubt, based his plan on Matthew 25:29: “For to every one who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but for him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
