We are our history
Seeing empty bases, with statues missing, made me think. They’re pictures of something else that is increasingly missing in our country.
America is the total of all its history: good-bad, pleasant-unpleasant, fair-unfair. Removal from our memory of any part of our history diminishes what we are. How can our children, or even we adults, understand and appreciate what we are if we don’t have reminders of what we have been?
