Like Monroe improvements

I am looking forward to the Monroe Street improvements. On a recent Saturday, I met friends at Vessel Coffee Roasters on Monroe. After parking outside the coffee shop, I worried about cars driving by so close to me.

Years ago, a similar type of street in the Bay Area, where I grew up, was reduced from four lanes to two. The street became a destination area for people getting coffee, going out to eat and taking a walk. The neighborhood flourished and is one of the most desirable spots in my hometown.

The owners of two small businesses I support on Monroe are worried street changes will hurt their bottom line. But I will continue to use their excellent services during and after street improvements.
