Why huddle with Trump?

I enjoyed Rob Curley’s piece on Mike Leach, the WSU head football coach. The article describes Leach’s intellectual abilities and his thirst for learning. His interest in history has been widely reported. He’s even written a biography of the 19th century Apache chief, Geronimo.

I am a huge Cougar football fan, a season ticket holder for 25 years, and have rejoiced in watching the coach bring the football program back to respectability. His success, it seems, hinges on his analysis and adherence to fundamentals.

So, I find it odd that Leach would endorse a presidential candidate who is clueless regarding the fundamentals of our nation’s history. Perhaps in his continuing educational quest, the coach is hoping for a dinner invitation for the White House so he can have a conversation with Frederick Douglass!
