Gun control irony
The front page of the March 15 Northwest section displayed true irony.
Jim Kershner’s column told of a riot involving members of the “Wobblies,” who wanted to break a member out of jail. The Wobblies, founded in 1905 in Chicago, described as “revolutionary industrial unionism” (Wikipedia), surrounded and began beating the sheriff. A call for help resulted in “100-200 citizens, all who could obtain guns, were on the scene. The gang was quickly surrounded.” It sounds like armed citizens saved the day, just like during the Texas church shooting.
Directly above that article was a piece about students demanding gun control, especially reducing access to “assault weapons” and raising the age to buy rifles to 21.
Nine people die, nationwide, each day when texting while driving. If we want our kids to be safe, ban cellphones and don’t issue driver’s licenses until age 21, except for military veterans. Then we’ll all be safe.
