Could’ve had a fresh campaign
When I first saw the mailer from supporters of Cathy McMorris Rodgers that claimed that Lisa Brown “Proposed Ending… Supervision Of Felony Sex Offenders,” I assumed that the claim came from unethical, uneducated propagandists.
I was ready to request that McMorris Rodgers take a page from John McCain’s playbook and denounce the misleading and unsupported statements.
I mistakenly believed that she was a bigger person than to use out-of-context “bites” that clearly misrepresented her opponent. So, I wanted to challenge her to conduct a fair, reasonable and respectful campaign against her formidable opponent … then I saw her TV ad.
Instead, McMorris Rodgers has chosen not to denounce her zealous supporters … she doubled down on the innuendo in her TV ad: “I approve this message,” she said.
I gotta say, her campaign could have been a fresh approach to politics. Instead she’s apparently decided to continue the dirty tricks of longtime politicians: tear down (with lies and innuendos) when you can’t toot your own horn on your own accomplishments.
