Voodoo economics

A few years ago the critics of a Republican president accused him of espousing voodoo economics. Today we have a Republican president who is practicing voodoo economics right out in plain sight. He kills taxable income for the farmers and replaces it with non-taxable welfare. This is a prescription for bankruptcy.

Is our president really the smartest businessman in the world? Perhaps.

In the business world businessmen can become wealthy by bankrupting a business. The plan is simple. Divert the proceeds of a building loan to personal use and stiff-arm the laborers and the material suppliers in a bankruptcy.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, government does not work that way. No one benefits from a government bankruptcy.

It is imperative to the preservation of this country that the Democrats gain control of the Congress in the midterm election and exercise its constitutional duty to check the unbridled and excess exercise of power by the president.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers is either intentionally or unwittingly in lock-step with the president. Lisa Brown has been a leader in state government and a professor of economics at the university level.

Bad things happen when good people do nothing. Vote Democratic.
