Question on racism on national level

Grant Peterson, the chairman of the Stevens County Republican Central Committee, had an interesting opinion letter in the Aug. 11 Spokesman-Review. He commented that Spokane County Chairwoman Cecily Wright’s support of James Allsup gave his organization the opportunity to state “Racism has no place in America and the Republican platform at the Stevens County, state and national level affirm this without qualifications or limitations.” I see no reason to doubt Mr. Peterson’s statement. However, I do wonder about one portion of his statement where he says “national” level. I have seen no evidence that the “national” leader, President Donald Trump, is anything less than a blatant racist. Would Mr. Peterson care to clarify his statement?
