Unfounded accusations continue
I am an employee at Spokane Transit Authority and a member of ATU local 1015; I’m also utterly appalled by my Union’s recent actions.
After the initial claim against our HR director, Nancy Williams, I addressed the STA board of directors (in part) with the following statement. “The press conference held by ATU 1015 President Thomas Leighty on June 12 does not represent the views or opinions of a large portion of our Union members. I cannot tell you exactly how large that portion is since the membership was never able to vote or comment on the plans. In fact, most members, myself included, had no knowledge of the event until after it occurred.” I went on to call for transparency from our leadership, but my plea fell on deaf ears.
After the findings of the investigation were made public, I thought this ordeal was over. However, Leighty again addressed the press without informing the membership. The article “Union says STA report clearing HR Director is ‘deeply troubling’” was a complete shock. “The Union” did not say this.
Our leadership has lost sight of who they represent. These allegations are rooted in personal vendettas and fueled by spite.
