When speech isn’t free

To the misinformed individuals that feel GU administration is blocking Ben Shapiro from speaking on their private campus is blocking free speech, I would like to say sometimes we don’t need to invite individuals who spread hate speech to speak publicly. The administration did the right thing and their response is valid.

When speech involves hate, racism, sexism, etc., we should not give them a public platform. It is not a left vs. right debate but rather common human decency that we block hate speech. It makes me sad that the students at GU who are rallying for Mr. Shapiro and others in our area do not fully understand that he is not a good person and that is why he should not be given the platform to speak.

I stand behind GU in their decision to block hate speech. Hate speech is never considered free speech!
