Christmas Fund inspiring

For years we have wanted to do more to support the Christmas Fund than just send in a check. This year I volunteered to help with the tear-down when the last customer was served on Dec. 21.

It was a fulfilling experience to see the organization, the significant logistics required to make it all happen smoothly, to see a few of the grateful customers at the intake desk, and particularly to see so many employees of KCI, Kilgore Construction, Inc. of Colbert there lending strong hands to the effort. The owner told me this was their first year volunteering, too.

It was so impressive to see so many pitch in to help “behind the scenes” to make this all happen for people in need in our community.

Thank you, Spokesman, for supporting this year after year. I look forward to volunteering this way again in 2019.
