A modest proposal

A modest proposal for our City Council as a result of their recent decision to limit individual freedom by helping us decide how much and when we can support local candidates:

I’d ask that this be expanded in two ways. First, a similar restriction be made on the visual pollution of year-round campaign signs in our city. Second, that sound pollution also be restricted by making it a misdemeanor to verbally abuse our elected leaders (or childishly turn their backs) during this same safe period of restricted political participation.
