Levies provide support
Sun., Feb. 11, 2018
I am proud to say that I am a teacher! I teach at an excellent school surrounded by incredible professionals who work as hard as I do to educate children in a stressful world. Without their levy-funded support my job would be even more difficult.
Our nurses support the students with diabetes, asthma and life-threatening allergies. Our behavior specialist observes and analyzes the ever-growing population of spectrum students and children with anger issues, providing steps for improvement. Our school counselor meets with many students throughout the day, helping them navigate the anguish of divorce, alcoholism, and drug abuse that children may be surrounded by, as well as the angst of fights with friends, fear of failure and anxiety. These are just a few examples of support provided by this levy.
It takes a village. Schools are part of the village. We all need to do our part to educate our children, helping them become the next generation of leaders, employers and employees that make Spokane a great place to live. Please vote for the 2018 levy, which simply replaces the expiring 2015 levy at a lower tax rate! Vote yes!
