Welcome Home, Billy

February 21, 2018, was the date of Billy Graham’s joyous home-going. He was welcomed by the many worldwide who responded to his invitation to be a follower of Christ. Most importantly, he was welcomed by his bride, Ruth Bell Graham, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I first attended an evangelistic crusade in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1965, courtesy of Navy Chaplain Art Dominy of Submarine Base Chapel, Pearl Harbor.

The music was beautiful, the flower leis fragrant and the aloha shirts - colorful. I wore my purple muumuu and my handmade Plumeria lei from our bush on Fuqua Street.

The first speaker was Chief of Police Dan Liu, welcoming Billy. The Scripture was from Acts:16 where the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas, “What must I do to be saved?” It was a life-changing experience.

Almost twenty years later Uncle Sam transferred us to Spokane from Connecticut and shortly after that Billy came to Spokane. He fulfilled the Scripture from Isaiah, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who brings tidings of good things.”

Welcome Home, Billy. No reserves! No retreats! No regrets!
