Thanks to Nicholas Deshais
Many thanks to Spokesman-Review editors and reporter Nicholas Deshais for the overview of Spokane freeways and the story on Margaret Hurley “Standing against urban freeways,” Dec. 19).
It is truly good to look at earlier city decisions and measure some of the effects on our life and citizenry. At the time there were many people involved. One group was named CARF, Citizens Against Residential Freeways. Professor Marilyn Stanton of Gonzaga served one term on the City Council and was very active in the movement during the 1970s.
Thank you for reviewing a time when many were involved in historic discussions.
