A nation needs borders

Immigration is a very divisive topic in our nation today and strong arguments can be made for both sides. I am pleased to see Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers take a strong and thoughtful stance on what is going on at our borders with Mexico.

Like anyone, I am concerned by the images of families being separated at the border and was happy to see Cathy vote for the Goodlatte Bill, HR 6136, which would put an immediate end to that practice. Crucially, however, the Goodlatte Bill also provided a long-term answer to the problem by providing funding for the wall, among other measures: we can’t have completely open access to our country, families or not, because a nation without borders isn’t much of a nation at all.

CMR made a bold, compassionate and smart choice when she supported this bill - it had the heart and common sense of the Eastern Washington she represents so well!
