We are a nation …

A recent Time magazine article stated “Presidents have many jobs, and one is telling us who we are.”

Based on Donald Trump’s words, actions and tweets, what we, as a nation, have become isn’t pretty. We are now a nation where bigotry, prejudice and racism is allowed and encouraged. We are a nation that reneges on international treaties and trade agreements. We grant huge tax cuts to businesses and the wealthy, leaving deficit increases of $1.9 trillion for our children and grandchildren.

We are a nation allowing big oil and mining companies to rape the land as we repeal and relax environmental laws, endangering threatened species and destroying our natural wonders that future generations will only see in photos and videos.

We are a nation with a president who praises brutal dictators as great leaders, believes the words of a former KGB head over that of our own intelligence agencies, while criticizing and demeaning the leaders of our staunchest allies.

We are a nation no longer promoting democracy, equality or human rights, instead preferring to attack the free press and undermine the first amendment.

When future generations ask how we allowed this to happen, what will we say?
