A premeditated ouster?

What happened at the Spokane Valley City Council meeting of July 3, 2018, under the direction of Mayor Rod Higgins severely stains our city. From the video of the meeting, it looked like he and three other members knew what was about to happen and the rest of the room did not. On the surface, it looked like this was planned. This action was not on the agenda and it was forced to proceed at that meeting.

Council Member Woodard said that the mayor could do whatever he wanted. “He could have had a bad apple. It doesn’t really matter what the reasons are.” Ironically, Woodard said this on the night before our celebration of freedom from the whim of one person.

The removal of Council Member Ben Wick from two committees done on July 3, 2018, has no integrity. Further, the lack of accountability, the lack of giving justifiable cause, is unprofessional, unfair, shameful and not in the service of our city.
