$6 million men

Hydro One’s CEO was let go because he took a salary of $6 million a year. Doesn’t Avista pay its CEO that much? Isn’t Avista half the size of Hydro One?

The city water utility just paid $6 million for a bridge in Riverfront Park. If the ratepayers in Spokane had a say in the matter, I’m pretty sure most would opt to not pay $6 million to a CEO, or for a bridge either.

Here’s a possible win-win: if Avista’s CEO is put out to pasture like the Hydro One CEO, they could talk about “shared values” together! And Avista ratepayers would save $6 million! That $6 million could then pay for the bridge. Spokane ratepayers would then have a bridge without a noticeable dent in their bank accounts. We’d be singing “O Canada!” all the way to the bank.

Welcome Hydro One, goodbye $6 million men!
