Dire threat of immigration

This is written in response to the letter, “Who wins with immigration,” (Tom Schenk, June 30).

Well glory be and may all the saints be praised! Finally, finally a letter that correctly and accurately portrays the dire threat that current levels of illegal immigration post to our nation. Nothing, repeat, nothing right now poses a greater threat to its very existence.

Rather than just re-hash all the old arguments about illegal (“undocumented” if you prefer) immigration, allow me to through out a thought which I hope most will find original if nothing else.

Erelong, we will have so many illegal immigrants roaming about that martial law will have to be declared. Henceforth, you may at anytime expected to hear a loud, firm knock on your front door. Surprise! It will be a U.S. martial law officer demanding that you quarter in your home maybe one to two to three illegal immigrant families in the basement, attic or wherever there might be room.

Scoff all you like everyone, that’s where we are now, where we’re headed and drawing ever nearer with each passing day.

For cheap labor and or votes - to allow the present situation to continue for sake of either or both is moral and mental rot of a kind I never expected to find anywhere.
