Doesn’t belong in Glenrose

Time to be concerned about the Sports Complex proposed by SYSA at 37th and Glenrose.

Commissioner Kuney and county department heads seem to have concluded that this project can move forward if SYSA is successful at raising the $5 million they need. SYSA got a donation to buy 20 acres and an option for 20 more for up to 40 acres – that’s like Joe Albi and Dwight Merkel. That’s not what we want in the Glenrose.

SYSA wants stadium lighting to operate until 10 p.m., 12 months a year, weather permitting - and that’s not prevented in the county code.

Who in the Glenrose area supports having this go there? There’s no sewer so SYSA will have port-a-potties. The new Trickle Creek families will have bright lights and port-a-potties to look at across the street.

Convince Mary Kuney to reconsider the project or convince those major donors to say no to SYSA for something that the local residents don’t support. I have supported SYSA in the past and coached my daughters on sports teams for SYSA – this is just not the place to build this.
