CMR ads attack with nicknames

Last night I saw Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ latest campaign ad and am appalled at how “East Coast” and “Trumpian” it is.

It is an attack ad against her probable November opponent, Lisa Brown, that resorted to nicknaming her opponent in a manner that mimics tactics of Trump.

Maybe a more effective ad would be one that notes her role in House leadership (fourth most powerful) and explain how she supported a massive tax gift to the wealthy, the adoption of a federal budget that is 1 trillion dollars out of balance thus increasing the federal deficit to unmanageable levels, and how House leadership is proposing to backfill the budget shortfall by cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid by over 800 billion dollars.

It is clearly time to “Flip the Fifth.”
