PAC money, what’s the crime?

In her recent TV ads, Lisa Brown asserts that Cathy McMorris Rodgers has a PAC set up by outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan. So? What’s the crime, Lisa? As long as it follows FEC guidelines, it’s legitimate.

Along with that, she wants to get rid of Citizens United, a PAC founded by David Bossie, who in 2010 won a Supreme Court battle regarding free speech, which McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform violated. How many people here in the 5th District know who or what Citizens United is? Not many. I think there are a lot more important issues.

Lisa Brown also proudly claims that she takes no PAC money, which is absurd. If you are running for U.S. Congress, you will take PAC money from corporations unless you have the millions stashed away to self-fund your campaign.

Lisa, how much money are you getting from big labor unions, public sector unions, teachers unions?

I think it’s safe to say a lot.
