Move over, quiet country

Regarding the Spokane Youth Sports Association’s proposed sports complex at 37th and Glenrose, buyers beware!

Potential residents of the Trickle Creek and Twisted Willows developments should be made aware they are going to be sitting across Glenrose Road from a busy sportsplex with stadium lighting, games and tournaments until 10 o’clock at night, and the accompanying noise and traffic.

Don’t believe the slick marketing phrases used by Trickle Creek: “A peaceful country setting yet close to downtown and freeway,” “Beautiful country setting!” and “A private country feel, yet close to everything!”

How ironic that with Spokane County officials facilitating these developments in violation of the Growth Management Act, they have mowed down and paved over the “peaceful country setting” they are advertising. The proposed sports complex is more of the same … astroturf replacing 20 acres of active farmland. This is considered compatible, appropriate land use within a rural zone by county planners?
