Watergate dejà vu

The latest tweets from the president concerning the FBI sparked a memory cell and I went back to look at the FBI’s role in the Watergate investigation.

The more I read I became struck by the similarities between what the Nixon White House did to the FBI in an attempt to stop the investigation and what the White House is now doing! Hoover died, so they didn’t have to fire the director, as Trump did, but they did put someone they could manipulate to run the agency. They, like Trump, said there was nothing to the investigation that implicated the White House. Except for a few courageous FBI agents, including “Deep Throat,” the White House would have gotten away with their crimes.

Is there another “Deep Throat” now? Does the White House get a pass on this?
