Background checks are bipartisan
Last March, The Spokesman-Review had an article titled “McMorris Rodgers, Knezovich take questions on gun violence at Ferris High School.” In the article, Knezovich stated “We talked about background checks. That system is broken,” and “Until we start taking these issues seriously, we’re all at risk.”
I don’t know if CMR agreed or disagreed but at least she heard the sheriff of the most populous county in her district.
I was surprised to read in the “How your U.S. lawmakers voted” article of May 25 that CMR voted to block an amendment of HR 5515 that would expand background checks on commercial gun sales.
This amendment may have addressed the gun issues that Knezovich mentioned earlier. Is she just hobbled by the monetary campaign support from the NRA? Is she just so partisan that she would not vote on an amendment from across the aisle? Is she ignoring the glaring problem of mass shootings in the USA?
If elected, I would hope that Lisa Brown would listen to her constituents and vote logically on bipartisan issues. Cathy McMorris Rodgers doesn’t.
